The different classes in society-Ileana
  • ** As in Caramelo, Lalo at one point in the story meets a young little girl named Candileria. There is a break between the friendship Lala wanted to make with this young girl.Obviously she is poor and in an economical situation. But Lalo's Mom doesn't see that. All she sees is a filthy little girl much like in our society today. In America today there is still segregation by classes, not only necessarily by race. I can relate to this story with this problem in society today.
    • Along with that though, there is also more and more of divorces and fights throughout the world. It's not like it used to be before, Where the "I do's" really were meant for the couple. Some of this story shows how much not getting along from the beginning can really be carried along why. For example in the book when Lala's mother got into the argument with the Awful Grandmother in front of her sibilings.
    • Work is a huge impact on how people are stable now a days. The reyes brothers have left their jobs for Mexico showing how people could careless. Money isn't everything Today you have it, tomorrow you don't.

Throughout this part of the story it's mostly talking about Lala's grandmother Soledad who was basically ophaned because her
mother died and her father remarried and ended up giving Lala away to his cousin. Another story I could connect this part of the
book with would be Cinderella, not only is it mentioned in the book but if you compare it, it adds up. Soledad lost both of her parents
when she was young and sort of had an evil step mother in a way because if it wasn't for her dad remarrying then she probably would
have never been given away, same with Cinderella and Soledad was forced to help her Aunty Lina by doing all of the chores and
taking care of the children and her way out was by finding her prince charming who happened to be Narisco (grandfather), the boy who
got her out of her aunties house and let her live with him.
